Salifu Amoako and his wife have been detained – Police

The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako, the Founder and Leader of Alive Chapel International, and his wife, Mouha Amoako, following an incident where their son was involved in a fatal accident at East Legon on October 12, 2024.

In a statement posted on social media on October 15, the police stated that the parents of the 16-year-old suspect driver are currently in custody to aid in the investigation.

According to the information gathered by the police since the collision, it was revealed that on October 12, 2024, the suspect driver, Elrad Salifu Amoako, aged 16, was driving a Jaguar SUV with registration number GN 7801 – 20 and collided with a 4×4 Acura vehicle with registration number GR 2542 – 23 at Mensah Wood Street in East Legon, resulting in the loss of two lives.

Both vehicles ignited and were completely destroyed by the fire.

“The investigation also reveals that three of the occupants in the Acura were saved following the crash, while the remaining two, Justine Agbenu and Maame Dwomoh, both 12 years old, tragically perished.”

Two of the rescued victims with minor injuries have been treated and discharged, while the third remains hospitalized for medical care. The driver of the Jaguar vehicle and another occupant have also been rescued and are currently receiving treatment in the hospital.

Following the incident, the police service has visited the bereaved family to offer condolences and has also visited the injured individuals in the hospital. The visit was conducted by a team from the Police Management Board, headed by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare was appointed on October 15, 2024.
