Mahama supports Alban Bagbin’s role as the Speaker for the 9th Parliament
The President-elect, John Dramani Mahama, has formally instructed the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Leadership to propose The Right Honourable Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin as the Speaker for the 9th Parliament of the Fourth Republic.
This choice comes after discussions with NDC leaders and highlights Bagbin’s notable contributions to Parliament.
Throughout his career, Bagbin has represented Nadwoli as a Member of Parliament, assumed roles as both Minority and Majority Leader, and most recently held the position of Speaker in the 8th Parliament.
Emphasizing his vast experience and leadership skills, the President-elect expressed assurance that Bagbin’s leadership would enhance Parliament’s capacity to effectively oversee and promote Ghana’s democratic and legislative progress.
The nomination showcases the NDC’s dedication to strengthening parliamentary governance and creating a conducive legislative atmosphere during this pivotal time in Ghana’s journey.
