Why NPP leaders confronting Adwoa Safo at her residence and preventing her departure.

New information has surfaced concerning how certain prominent figures within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are said to have obstructed Adwoa Safo, the former MP for Dome/Kwabenya, from departing her residence to attend a planned radio interview.

Recently, Adwoa Safo has been actively participating in media engagements, sharing her grievances regarding what she labels as extended unjust treatment. This follows her prior apology to both the party and her constituents after dealing with personal matters that caused her long absence.

On Friday morning, March 21, 2025, she was set to appear for an interview on Kessben TV/FM in Accra. Unfortunately, listeners and viewers were left dissatisfied as they waited for an interview that did not occur.

As time passed, the show’s host, Kwame Appiah Kubi, commonly referred to as Mr. Speaker, felt he needed to clarify the situation to his audience.

“Adwoa Safo was already in her vehicle, ready to leave for the interview when she encountered three Land Cruisers blocking her exit at her gate. Within these vehicles were high-ranking members of the NPP who were adamant that she could not proceed to the interview. Consequently, for those eager to hear from Adwoa Safo, I regret to announce that she has been trapped in her residence by NPP leadership,” the host explained.

In the meantime, the NPP has referred Adwoa Safo to its National Disciplinary Committee due to her recent public comments about the party’s performance in the 2024 elections.

This step comes after an earlier warning from the NPP, instructing its members to avoid making public comments that could cause divisions within the party.

On Thursday, March 20, 2025, NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong released a statement indicating that Adwoa Safo’s comments were in violation of party rules and could impede rebuilding efforts.

“As she is aware, the directive clearly states that all party members must avoid discussing internal matters in ways that could incite discord, negativity, or dissatisfaction on media channels. Her conduct not only flouts this directive but also hinders our attempts at rebuilding the party.

“As a former MP, past Deputy Majority Leader, and previous Minister of State in the earlier NPP government, she was expected to exemplify discipline, loyalty, and unity that are core to our esteemed party.

“Her inability to uphold these values reflects not only poorly on her but also constitutes a violation of Article 3(5) of the Party’s constitution, which requires members to support and protect the party’s reputation.

“Given this breach, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo is now being referred to the National Disciplinary Committee of the party for appropriate measures.”
