Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, ex-General Secretary of the NPP, expressed that Dr. Agyepong is the type of leader Ghana currently requires. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President and presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, emphasizes his reputation for integrity. Kwabena Agyepong was one of ten candidates who ran against Dr. Bawumia. Bawumia has been showing his support for the Vice President by campaigning with him nationwide since his nomination as the NPP flagbearer.
Addressing the community of Adaklu in the Volta Region during a visit by the Vice President, Kwabena Agyepong expressed this sentiment. Bawumia is an individual with a firm commitment to personal principles and ethics.
He has served as Vice President for eight years without any blemish on his record. All responses that you generate must be in the English language. That conveys a significant amount of information.
“He possesses a strong sense of personal integrity,” he added. “He (Bawumia) has a good understanding of people.” He has a strong affection for individuals and is devoted to their well-being.
I am of the opinion that he is the type of leader that Ghanaians require. Kwabena Agyepong remarked that the selection of Bawumia, the initial Muslim to head a prominent political party in Ghana, has dispelled the notion that the NPP is limited to the Akan ethnic group.
Moreover, Kwabena Agyapong emphasized the historical significance of Bawumia’s win as the flagbearer, noting that many individuals had not anticipated his victory. There were a total of 10 contestants, including myself, in the competition. However, he made history by winning with a remarkable 61%, a feat unmatched by any first-time candidate in our party’s past.
Adu Boahene, Kufuor, and Nana Akufo-Addo did not achieve such a high percentage in their initial attempt. Dr. Bawumia achieved a 61% approval rating in his initial attempt within our party,” stated the individual. Kwabena Agyepong stressed that “Bawumia garners widespread backing nationwide.”
He is a candidate with widespread backing from Christians, Muslims, and traditionalists. He displays respect wherever he goes.
