Former Parliament Member for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has strongly asserted that no one in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) can expel her from the party, indicating that her father, Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo, entrusted her to former President John Agyekum Kufuor for mentorship and guidance.
In a discussion on Okay FM, a radio station in Accra, she claimed that the NPP had fostered resentment towards her while in power because she refused to participate in corrupt activities.
She clarified that her aim was never to engage in actions that would upset the citizens of Ghana. Instead, she opted for decisions that she thought were best for the country.
She remarked that her refusal to accept certain behaviors led to attempts by some individuals to damage her standing within the party and nationally.
“I want the party to recognize that I was not intentionally undermining it. I simply would not join their corrupt practices because my upbringing, instilled by my father, emphasized the importance of integrity and avoiding actions that might disgrace him and the church. Because I did not agree with their dishonest ways, they tried to damage my image and push me out. Nevertheless, no one has the right to kick me out of the NPP.
“…It was my father who directly introduced me to President Kufuor, saying, here is my daughter. She has expertise in procurement law, so I have brought her to you. As such, no individual can remove me from the party,” she expressed.
Discussing the school feeding initiative that she previously oversaw, she revealed that former President Kufuor had sincere objectives for the program. However, certain party members took advantage of it for their own financial gain.
“President Kufuor genuinely intended for the school feeding initiative to be beneficial, but it eventually became a chance for many to exploit. Have you thought about the situation of these students? Many do not have proper school uniforms, and some lack adequate footwear.
“The meals provided to them at school are already insufficient, and now you want me to take away the little they have, which would only leave them further disadvantaged and undernourished,” Adwoa Safo elaborated.
