Sarah Adwoa Safo, the previous Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya, has expressed that following the unjust demolition of her father’s bus terminal, the land remains unused.
“The property where the bus terminal was situated is owned by the government. It had been leased to us, and we were making the required payments. What troubles me the most is that, as of now, the land is still enclosed by a wall, and no action has been taken regarding it,” she stated during a revealing interview on Okay FM on March 20, 2025.
Reflecting on the wrongs she and her family faced under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration, Adwoa Safo recounted how her father’s businesses were specifically targeted by her political party.
“The demolished bus terminal was in Agbogbloshie, close to the ICGC church. One day, we woke up to a bulldozer tearing down the terminal. What pains me is that we weren’t notified beforehand. We couldn’t even retrieve a single computer or document from that office. When I contacted Henry Quartey, the former Greater Accra Regional Minister, he bluntly informed me that it was a directive from higher authorities,” she recalled.
She expressed frustration about her unanswered attempts to gain insight into the demolition.
“I desperately tried to get in touch with Henry Quartey for details about the demolition numerous times, but he never answered my calls,” she disclosed.
She pointed out that her father’s transport company, Imperial Express Transport Service, had been instrumental in moving NPP voters for many years, making the targeting of the business seem illogical to her.
“My father, Apostle Dr Ing. Kwadwo Safo, owned a transport company known as Imperial Express, which had buses operating throughout the country and to neighboring nations like Togo and Benin. Those same buses were used to transport voters to different areas during elections to support the party,” she lamented.
Reports indicate that Sarah Adwoa Safo has received an invitation from the NPP’s Disciplinary Committee after she openly discussed certain events within the NPP and her claims of victimization following her presentation of an audit revealing corruption in the School Feeding Programme Initiative during the previous Akufo-Addo administration.
