Tinubu: Mahama’s victory is a source of pride for Africa

The President of Nigeria, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, has praised the election of President John Dramani Mahama as a matter of pride and respect for Ghana, the African continent, and the worldwide African community.

During his keynote speech at Mahama’s inauguration held on Tuesday, January 7, at Accra’s Black Star Square, Tinubu referred to the occasion as a source of inspiration for the entire continent.

In his speech, Tinubu applauded the Ghanaian populace for their dedication to democracy and the peaceful transfer of authority, emphasizing that Mahama’s success symbolizes the shared dreams of not only Ghanaians but of Africans everywhere.

The Nigerian leader also took the opportunity to stress the significance of solidarity among African nations. He called on African leaders and citizens to collaborate in peacefully addressing conflicts, enhancing brotherhood, and resisting outside pressures that aim to create division.

“This is a time of pride and respect for the people of Ghana, all of Africa, and the diaspora. The sun shines bright and the sky appears clear, yet I observe a radiant black star ascending in the African skies, spreading with a collective history of hope, unity, kindness, and commitment to our shared welfare.

“While some may belittle Africa, that shining star serves as a reminder of our identity and our potential, urging us to consistently strive and collaborate, even amidst disagreements. We must choose peaceful conversations and refrain from causing harm to one another, while also ensuring that no external force can undermine our fraternal ties.”
