The declaration of four available seats signifies a positive omen for NDC’s success – Mahama
John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has characterized Speaker Alban Bagbin’s declaration of four parliamentary seats as vacant as an indicator of the NDC’s upcoming success in the December 2024 elections.
On Thursday, October 17, 2024, Bagbin ratified a motion presented by former Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu. The motion contended that the four Members of Parliament (MPs) in question—Cynthia Morrison (Agona West), Kojo Asante (Suhum), Andrew Asiamah (Fomena), and Peter Kwakye Ackah (Amenfi Central)—had relinquished their seats by declaring their intent to run as independent candidates in the upcoming general elections, a move deemed to contravene constitutional provisions on parliamentary membership.
Addressing supporters during a rally at Ningo-Prampram on Thursday, October 17, Mahama asserted that the proceedings in Parliament indicate a divine affirmation of the party’s electoral victory.
He called on NDC supporters to persevere and remain dedicated in the remaining months leading to the elections in order to secure the party’s success.
Mahama stressed that while the current situation was promising, the party must continue its endeavors to ensure triumph at the polls. “If the information I have received from parliament is accurate, then a momentous event has just occurred.”
I have received information indicating that the speaker has announced the vacancy of 4 seats. Out of the 4 seats, 3 belong to the NPP and 1 belongs to the NDC. If these seats are declared vacant, it would result in a shift where the minority becomes the majority and the majority becomes the minority within the same parliamentary term. In my view, God is providing a sign of future events that we must realize on December 7, 2024.
