Parliament is scheduled to convene at the AICC today
Parliament will hold its fifth meeting of the fourth session on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at the Dome of the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) due to ongoing renovation works in the main chamber.
Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, formally announced the reconvening of Parliament in a statement issued on September 30, 2024. Prior to this meeting, a two-day emergency sitting was conducted at the Dome, during which a $250 million loan agreement with the World Bank was approved to aid Ghana’s Energy Sector Recovery Programme.
The agreement, initially rejected before Parliament’s recess, was a significant factor in the recall of the House on September 3, 2024. The loan facility is geared towards tackling issues in Ghana’s energy sector, such as financial viability and operational effectiveness, both of which are essential for the nation’s economic stability.
