Napo criticizes the NDC Minority for their disruptive behavior in Parliament

Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Vice-Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Member of Parliament for Manhyia South in the Ashanti Region, has denounced the conduct of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Minority Caucus in Parliament on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, labeling it as “unruly.”

Prempeh censured NDC lawmakers for reportedly provoking the Majority Caucus by occupying seats designated for the Majority, which he asserts was done to instigate a confrontation. Prempeh underscored that Parliament, functioning as a platform for intellectual discourse, should never be utilized for physical conflicts.

“The anticipated melee and violence by the NDC Minority in Parliament last Tuesday did not materialize. This was due to our disciplined and mature approach.

We recognize that Parliament is designed for intellectual exchanges and not physical altercations,” he declared. “In contrast to them, the NPP consistently prioritizes the peace and stability of the nation.”

Dr. Prempeh, with nearly 16 years of experience in Parliament, emphasized this point. Prempeh urged his NDC peers to prioritize their legislative duties and their representation of constituents, instead of participating in actions he deemed as inappropriate for members of Parliament.

Prempeh, also known as “Napo,” expressed these views during a Stakeholders Engagement on October 24, 2024, while speaking to students at Pantang Nursing and Midwifery Training College as part of his campaign activities in the Greater Accra Region.

He seized the opportunity to underscore the accomplishments of the NPP government in the healthcare sector, such as the Agenda 111 hospital initiative and the reinstatement of nursing trainee allowances that had been rescinded during the previous NDC administration.

He urged the students to continue supporting the NPP and Dr. [Last Name]. Mahamudu Bawumia has committed to enhancing the healthcare system and creating more favorable conditions for nurses in Ghana under the leadership of the NPP.
