We will not confront NPP with Bibles when they are armed – Hannah Bissiw
The National Women Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. [Name], must provide a response to the allegations made against her regarding misuse of party funds.
Hannah Louisa Bissiw-Kotey has issued a firm warning that the party will not tolerate what she characterizes as deceitful actions by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
She emphasized that the NDC will no longer react passively to provocations, declaring that the days of engaging with the NPP “peacefully with the Bible” are over. During an interview on Accra 100.5 FM’s Ghana Yensom morning show on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, conducted by Otafrigya Kwesi Appea-Apreku, Dr. Bissiw-Kotey made these statements.
Bissiw-Kotey criticized the NPP for consistently undermining peace in Ghana’s political sphere. She pointed to instances, such as the 2024 general elections, where she alleged that the NPP resorted to violence for their benefit while expecting the NDC to remain nonviolent.
“Ghana’s democracy is under strain due to the NPP’s actions,” she stated, highlighting 2024 as a critical moment when the military reportedly attacked innocent voters.
Bissiw-Kotey emphasized that the NDC, drawing from its revolutionary history, will continue to assert its position in upcoming elections. She also asserted that the party will only consider peace efforts from NPP leaders if they are based on principles of fairness and justice.
“Peace cannot exist without justice,” Dr. Bissiw-Kotey declared. Bissiw-Kotey cautioned that the NDC will not condone any efforts to undermine fairness in the forthcoming general elections.
She emphasized in her conclusion that the NDC will stay alert and will oppose any endeavors by the ruling party to manipulate the electoral procedures or initiate peace talks without addressing the fundamental issue of justice.
