We rank among the leading electoral organizations in Africa – EC
The Electoral Commission (EC) firmly denies any suggestions that public trust in its activities is decreasing before the December 7 general elections. In response to concerns raised in an Afrobarometer report by the Ghana Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana), which revealed that many Ghanaians are becoming more doubtful about the Commission’s fairness, the EC affirms that it is fully ready to conduct elections that are credible and open.
According to the CDD-Ghana report, a notable number of people are questioning the EC’s autonomy and neutrality. Nonetheless, Dr. Eric Bossman Asare, Deputy Chairperson of the EC, stated in a media interview that these concerns are unfounded and reassured the public of the Commission’s dedication to electoral integrity.
He pointed out that the EC has taken extensive measures to enhance the credibility of the electoral process, including deploying advanced biometric systems, training poll staff rigorously, and strengthening oversight mechanisms at all polling stations. “You talk about the quality of elections in Africa, Ghana is one of the best in the continent. Ghana excels in the field of business.
“When we held a nationally televised meeting on the forensic audit matter you mentioned, all Ghanaians witnessed that the EC was transparent.”
He urged the public to consider the EC’s history of successfully organizing past elections and guaranteed that their votes would be counted accurately and reported transparently.
