The NDC administration intends to reassess the OSP – Joyce Bawah Mogtari
Special Assistant to the President, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, has disclosed that the government’s strategy to combat corruption involves reassessing the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP). She indicated that the mission of Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL), which forms part of the government’s approach during the transitional phase, will come to an end once an Attorney General is appointed.
“The mission of ORAL will conclude with the appointment of the Attorney General. Its role is to compile a thorough report essential for the transition process. The NDC’s strategy against corruption also encompasses a reassessment of the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP),” Mogtari stated. “We are evaluating whether to maintain or revamp the OSP. Mr. Mahama has highlighted the importance of enhancing all governance bodies to effectively tackle corruption,” she added in an interview with Serwaa Amihere on GHOne TV, as per starrfm.com.gh. Recently, President Mahama designated Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Nathan Kofi Boakye, Martin Kpebu, Raymond Archer, and Daniel Domelevo to probe and collect evidence concerning state capture and misappropriation of assets.
At the same time, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the MP for North Tongu and Chair of the Operation Recover All Loot team, disclosed that his team has amassed significant evidence of embezzled state assets by individuals from the previous government. He mentioned that this evidence will be presented to President John Dramani Mahama shortly for further consideration.
“We won’t reveal the specifics of our findings until we have submitted our report to His Excellency the President. At that point, the Ghanaian public will be informed about the extensive work accomplished, the scale of the loot, and how we all collectively endeavored to ensure that the evidence is systematically gathered to assist our Attorney General and institutions in recovering these assets,” Ablakwa confidently told reporters in the Eastern Region.
