The Electoral Commission has released statistics on the 2024 ballot
The Electoral Commission (EC) has released the ballot statistics for the upcoming 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections, a significant milestone in the electoral process of the country.
This action aligns with the Commission’s dedication to transparency, fairness, and integrity. Samuel Tettey, Deputy Chairman in charge of Operations, explained that the ballot statistics were determined by taking into account the total number of voters on the 2024 Provisional Voters Register (PVR) and applying a two percent increase.
This approach, utilized since 1992, aims to ensure a sufficient number of ballots without wastage. The Commission recognizes that not all registered voters will participate and encourages high voter turnout.
Mr. Tettey reassured the public of the Commission’s confidence in its methodology and commitment to fulfilling its duty. In preparation for the 2024 General Election, the Electoral Commission has been actively engaged in various processes, including the announcement of nomination filings for the presidential election and the provision of polling station information. Moreover, the Commission has addressed concerns raised by the National Democratic Congress (NDC), emphasizing its dedication to transparency and accountability.
