Saglemi: The next NDC government plans to reassess the choice of Quarm-LMI, – Mahama

The leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has stated his intention to reassess the transfer of the Saglemi Housing Project to Quarm-LMI without prior consultation with the rightful landowners.

Mahama points out that the previous NDC government began the project based on a land acquisition agreement with the traditional authorities of Ningo-Prampram, emphasizing the need for the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration to follow the same protocol before making any changes to the project.

Following extensive negotiations, the government chose Quarm-LMI as the private developer to move forward with completing the stagnant housing project.

During a campaign event in Prampram within the Greater Accra region, Mahama assured the community of Ningo-Prampram that their socioeconomic challenges will be promptly addressed in his next term if elected.

Before commencing the project, we sought input from the residents of Ningo-Prampram. After our departure, the government has forsaken it. Recently, I have heard that there is a desire to transfer ownership to private individuals.

My main point to emphasize is that if the project’s status is being shifted from a government project to a private project, it is necessary to consult with the allodial landowners.

I am aware that this consultation has not yet taken place. The land cannot be transferred to a private company for the project without the consent, discussion, and negotiation of the allodial owners, the Ningo people.

Upon our arrival, we will conduct a thorough review of the government’s activities in that location.
