Our supporters are safeguarding state assets, rather than taking them – Gbande
A Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbande, has spoken in defense of party supporters who are alleged to have damaged public property and assaulted governmental entities.
Gbande contended that these people were safeguarding state assets rather than committing acts of aggression.
In an interview with Citi Eyewitness News on Wednesday, January 8, the NDC’s Deputy General Secretary mentioned that the party is working alongside the police to reestablish order and resolve the issue peacefully.
“The youth of this nation are committed to transforming the story of our country, where individuals pilfer public assets and government funds without consequences. While this is regrettable, we should recognize those who are making efforts to maintain and protect state property.
“If it were true that they were also stealing and taking things for themselves, that would be a different issue. However, if they are merely moving and shielding government assets from being appropriated by officials, then that is a matter the party is beginning to understand, which we are addressing.
“We are collaborating with the Inspector General of Police and working with some individuals from the previous administration who still hold positions to help regularize the situation.”
