NPP MPs are responsible for delays in the execution of government business – Ayariga
Mahama Ayariga, the Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, attributed the delays in government business to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) caucus in Parliament.
His remarks were made following the NPP MPs, led by Alexander Afenyo-Markin, boycotting Tuesday’s parliamentary session due to the presence of National Democratic Congress (NDC) MPs on the Majority side.
Speaker Alban Bagbin, citing a Supreme Court ruling on four vacant parliamentary seats, adjourned Parliament indefinitely on October 22. In an interview with Citi News, Mahama Ayariga emphasized the willingness of the NDC caucus to reconvene when the Speaker calls for the House to resume activities, reiterating their readiness to engage in legislative duties despite being in opposition.
Afenyo-Markin prioritized protecting his status as a former Majority Leader. He asserted that any allegations of misused public funds were not attributed to him.
We were in the chamber, prepared for business. – He is the individual who neglected his duties. He inquired, “Who is actually squandering public funds?”
