The Member of Parliament for Subin Constituency under the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Eugene Boakye Antwi, has once again criticized Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, who is President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s cousin, for allegedly exerting excessive influence within the government.
Antwi made these remarks during an interview on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia on Wednesday, September 23, 2024, where he accused some of the president’s relatives of misguiding the government.
Antwi emphasized the importance of accurate reporting and clarified that his comments were not in reference to ministerial positions. I mentioned the name of Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko in my response.

These individuals are largely unknown within the party, with the exception of my brother Nana Attobrah Quaicoe, recognized for his contributions to the party.
All the appointments and ministerial positions given to members of the Dankwa Institute have been facilitated by Gabby. I am informing you that since NPP came into power, two individuals, Ken Ofori-Atta, responsible for the economy, and Gabby Otchere-Darko, involved in appointments, continue to do so.
We harbor no fear of anyone; our silence is merely a reflection of our unwavering party allegiance,” he asserted.
He also raised concerns about the president’s cousin assuming unauthorized authority without an official government position or elected status.
“Despite his prolific social media presence and self-proclaimed wisdom, he lacks the experience of participating in an election. By what authority does he speak in Ghana?
Who is he to assert such opinions? Who is Gabby? Yesterday we were heading to Parliament to make decisions, and he was on social media instructing us,” he expressed frustration.
Gabby Otchere-Darko, a practicing private lawyer, is seen as holding significant influence within his cousin’s administration and has been dubbed by certain groups as Ghana’s unofficial Prime Minister.
