NPP Maintains Commitment to Uphold Rule of Law – NAPO
The vice-presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who is running alongside the party’s presidential nominee,
Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh emphasized that the party has consistently maintained a strict adherence to the rule of law, even when confronted with political prejudice.
Matthew Opoku Prempeh’s statement was made after a discussion with distinguished representatives from the Christian Council of Ghana, who had visited him to discuss strategies for safeguarding peace in Ghana.
In a post on his official page, Dr. Opoku Prempeh shared this information. Napo stated that the NPP has consistently shown a commitment to the rule of law and democratic accountability, both crucial for maintaining peace in Ghana’s democratic process.
He highlighted that even after a narrow loss in the 2008 election, the party did not incite any riots, with party members and supporters being reminded by leadership to remain disciplined. “Despite the extremely close outcome in the 2008 elections, we did not resort to violence.”
Among various examples, this represents the NPP’s history of promoting peace and democratic principles. The NPP holds the belief that the upcoming December 7 elections will be decided by the people.
As a result, the entire support system of the NPP is currently engaged in an intense campaign to secure a significant victory for the party. Consequently, our presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, our spouses, and every aspect of our campaign have been actively engaging with the electorate day and night.
Napo reassured the public that Ghana will once again demonstrate its commitment to democracy and serve as a positive example for Africa and beyond after December 7, 2024.
