NDC’s James Annan accuses Effutu Municipal Assembly of illegal removal of Billboards
James Kofi Annan, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Effutu, is upset about the recent removal of almost 50 of his billboards in the Effutu constituency.
Annan has accused the Effutu Municipal Assembly of acting unlawfully by taking down his commercial billboards that had been in place since 2009. In an interview on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, Annan mentioned that his billboard business, which was established in 2009, had previously supported New Patriotic Party (NPP) campaigns.
He refuted claims that his billboards did not have proper permits, dismissing the NPP’s accusations as baseless. Despite the ongoing court proceedings, he mentioned that the assembly proceeded with removing the billboards.
“In Effutu constituency, almost all of my nearly 50 billboards have been cut down.” The billboards are advertising boards for businesses, and so on. They have been illegal. The Effutu Municipal Assembly has acted in a manner that is not in accordance with the law. It has behaved without fear of punishment.
I initiated this billboard enterprise in 2009 through a company. I proceeded to install billboards in the constituency throughout the central region. The current NPP party utilized these billboards.
“They spread misinformation claiming I lack a permit, despite knowing this is false…In fact, we are currently in court, yet they proceeded to remove it,” he informed host Selorm Adonoo.
