NDC expresses reservations regarding the EC’s agreement with YASARKO

The Electoral Commission’s decision to engage YASARKO for printing materials for the upcoming elections has drawn criticism from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Concerns have been raised by the party’s “Eagle Eyes” initiative, which is dedicated to overseeing the ballot printing process.

Dr Edward Omane Boamah, NDC’s Director of Elections and IT, expressed doubt about the EC’s scrutiny of YASARKO, citing a history of unmet obligations and frustration among NDC agents monitoring the situation around the clock.

The repeated delays and excuses from YASARKO have raised doubts about the company’s capabilities and the validity of the contract award. Suspicions have been raised by NDC agents that YASARKO may be planning to print ballot papers offsite, a potential threat to the electoral materials’ integrity.

Additionally, concerns have been raised about excess ballot papers being printed, prompting the team to make arrangements with printing companies to ensure transparency in the disposal of surplus materials.
