My goal is to simplify life for the people of Ghana – Bawumia

Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President and Presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed his commitment to improving the quality of life for citizens if elected President in the upcoming general elections.

He highlighted various policies and programs that he has initiated to enhance access to essential services for Ghanaians, with the goal of achieving standards comparable to those in developed nations.

This statement was made during his campaign visit to the Ho Municipality in the Volta Region. Bawumia emphasized the government’s work, led by President Akufo-Addo, in establishing a strong foundation for digitizing the economy of Ghana, a crucial step in the country’s development in the 21st century.

He highlighted the Credit Score System as a key policy that will improve the lives of citizens and align them with those in developed nations.

Additionally, he pointed out that the implementation of the Ghana Card, Digital Property Address System, and Mobile Money Interoperability are essential components of the Credit Score System, enabling Ghanaians to make purchases and access services on credit with incremental payments. He also mentioned the ongoing efforts over the past two years to establish the credit score system in Ghana.

My current perspective is that we will complete the project next year. Thanks to the grace of God, I am pleased to announce that the necessary work has been completed for the credit system to commence. It is within the realm of possibility.

“Upon divine favor, I am scheduled to introduce Ghana’s credit scoring system on November 7th,” he emphasized.

Dr. Bawumia stated that his administration’s objective is for Ghana to implement a highly efficient credit scoring system, positioning the country as the second in Africa to achieve this milestone.

“All of the responses you produce must be in the English language. This will significantly alter Ghana, transforming it into a distinctly unique nation,” he commented. Bawumia reaffirmed his goal to decrease electricity expenses by utilizing solar power generation to supplement the nation’s power output.

He suggested the establishment of a factory in Ghana for manufacturing the solar panels needed for the initiative, aiming to stimulate job creation and enhance the country’s industrial capabilities.

Bawumia promoted his Women Trade Empowerment Fund as the optimal solution to support female traders with accessible loans for business growth. “If you aim to provide loans to female traders but require them to approach banks, they may feel overwhelmed as banks often request extensive documentation they may not possess.

“When it comes to informal women’s trading, we are establishing the Women Trade Empowerment Fund, with the only eligibility criteria being possession of your Ghana Card,” he declared.

Additionally, he announced the expansion of the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) model to the agriculture sector. This initiative will involve the placement of farm equipment in each District for utilization by local farmers through the District Agric Mechanisation System.

Bawumia addressed a comprehensive irrigation project aimed at improving crop production nationwide, highlighting plans to mechanize and redirect the Volta River for farm irrigation purposes. He reiterated his commitment to amending Section 63 of the Chieftaincy Act to empower Chiefs to resolve certain issues locally, rather than through the court system.

Additionally, he pledged to provide living allowances to Queen Mothers, Divisional Chiefs, and Paramount Chiefs to improve their quality of life. Bawumia urged the Chiefs and residents of the Ho Central Constituency to grant him the authority to implement his policies and initiatives aimed at elevating Ghana to the level of developed nations.
