Madina MP condemns NPP’s management of Parliamentary disagreements

Francis-Xavier Kojo Sosu, the Member of Parliament for Madina Constituency, has admonished the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for deviating from their principles and lacking consistency.

During an interview with Happy 98.9fm after Parliament’s indefinite adjournment, Mr. Sosu expressed his criticism. Sosu claimed that the NPP administration is shirking truth and responsibility.

He referenced a comparable event from 2020 where the appropriate action was taken, wondering why the NPP is now trying to deviate from that approach.

“The NPP’s lack of consistency is concerning, their ‘It is Possible’ motto lacks substance when they neglect to abide by principles. He rhetorically inquired, “If it was achievable in 2020, why not in 2024?”

Sosu highlighted that endorsing the NDC’s majority status without adjourning Parliament would have led to the elimination of controversial policies such as the E-Levy tax on electronic transactions, the Betting Tax, and Legislative Instrument (LI) 2623 allowing mining in water bodies and forests, which contributes significantly to illegal mining.

He commended the National Democratic Congress (NDC) MPs for achieving majority status and committed unwaveringly to winning the December elections. He was confident that a majority from the NDC would drive Ghana’s progress.
