The swearing-in ceremony for John Dramani Mahama and Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang as President and Vice President, respectively, is taking place at Black Star Square in Accra.

John Mahama’s rise to the presidency followed a groundbreaking win in the 2024 elections, where the NDC triumphed by a margin exceeding 1.7 million votes.
Prior to the inauguration of the 6th President of the Fourth Republic, the 8th Parliament was disbanded, paving the way for the establishment of the 9th Parliament.
The event is being attended by twenty-one heads of state, with numerous prominent international figures also confirmed to be present.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Information on January 6, 2025, among the foreign guests are three vice presidents, four ministers, and 24 ambassadors.
