Emphasize peace and the welfare of Ghanaian citizens – Apostle Nyamekye advises politicians
The President of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has urged all stakeholders and political parties to prioritize peace and well-being as Ghana prepares for the 2024 general elections.
Speaking at the launch of the National Peace Campaign, themed “Let Peace Prevail,” held at the forecourt of the State House on Sunday, November 3, Apostle Nyamekye emphasized the importance of avoiding violence. He called for sacrifice, compromise, and intentional actions to support peace and stability for Ghanaians during the election period and beyond.
Apostle Nyamekye acknowledged that while the overall atmosphere of the elections has been peaceful, there have been occasional instances of violence leading to loss of lives. He stated that the call for peace should be a concern for all Ghanaians, especially those seeking to lead the country and institutions guiding the nation’s affairs.
He expressed pleasure in seeing representatives from the Electoral Commission (EC), political parties, and security agencies present at the event, confident in their dedication to safeguarding the peace cherished by the country. It is important to make peace and well-being a top priority for our citizens in all elections.
“Achieving [peace] will need sacrifices, compromises, and intentional efforts by all important stakeholders,” Apostle Eric Nyamekye recommended.
Attendees at the event included the vice presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Dramani Mahama, and other notable politicians and stakeholders.
