Breakdown of statistics on revised provisional voters register
The Electoral Commission (EC) has published the most recent data regarding the current status of the Voters Register, presenting a detailed summary of the electorate in anticipation of the forthcoming elections. Per the EC, the total count of eligible voters is 18,772,251, including 9,689,987 females and 9,082,264 males.
The registry contains 708,280 new voters. Special voters, including security personnel and election officials, total 131,476. The recorded number of transfers is 332,107, with 311,344 voters listed as transferred.
Furthermore, the proxy voters list encompasses 2,142 names. The register also identifies certain discrepancies, with 33,536 names listed on the exception list and 26,790 names on the multiples list.
The list of missing voters contains 1,273 individuals who require verification. EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa, stated on October 15, 2024, during the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting in Accra, that the revised Provisional Voters Register (PVR) shows significant improvement from the initial exhibition period, with most discrepancies being resolved.
She highlighted the commission’s efforts in the recent weeks to ensure the accuracy of the register.
