Bawumia unveils discussions with UMaT to manufacture materials for his large railway development project

In alignment with his “Buy Ghana First” pledge to enhance local manufacturing, Vice President and Presidential Candidate of the NPP, Dr. [Name], is taking concrete steps to prioritize domestic goods and support Ghanaian businesses.

Mahamudu Bawumia has announced intentions to utilize materials made in Ghana for his ambitious railway project. While visiting the Ashanti Region, Dr. Bawumia unveiled this strategic approach. Bawumia emphasized his government’s plan to focus on building railways in addition to roads. Specifically, they will prioritize major rail lines like Accra to Kumasi through to Paga, and Kumasi to Takoradi.

This demonstrates their dedication to railway development. Bawumia stressed his objective to procure materials locally for railway expansion in Ghana in order to boost employment opportunities.

“I aim to avoid importing items such as rails and concrete slabs,” Dr. Bawumia, during his meeting with stakeholders of the Afigya Sekyere East Constituency in Agona, mentioned, “I have spoken with UMaT (University of Mines and Technology) about developing a method for producing the materials required for building railways in Ghana.”

Dr. Bawumia restated his dedication to enhancing the railway industry while also carrying on the extensive road construction started by the Akufo-Addo administration.
