Bawku tragedies could have been prevented if tensions were addressed – Mahama
The National Democratic Congress presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, has urged Ghanaians, especially the government, to be proactive in addressing the country’s issues.
Mahama pointed out that the recent unrest in Bawku, which has led to loss of lives, could have been avoided if the government had taken proactive steps to address the growing tensions.
On his official Facebook page on Monday, November 4, 2024, Mahama emphasized the importance of a proactive approach to maintaining peace.
If we had taken action to address the tensions in our community sooner, perhaps we could have prevented tragedies like those in Bawku, where lives are lost and families are torn apart. Mahama, a former president, assured Ghanaians of his and the NDC’s dedication to maintaining peace in the country.
He restated his promise to be a role model leader, standing up for those without a voice and advocating for justice and equality for every individual. “I pledge on behalf of the National Democratic Congress to uphold the principles of communication, respect, and fairness for all.” We promise to advocate for those without a voice and support all Ghanaians who are dedicated to a peaceful society, one that is based on fairness,” he stated.
