NDC maintains stronghold in Volta Region as NPP backing grows
The communications official for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Volta region, Sorkpa Kafui Agbleze, stressed the party’s dedication to safeguarding the Volta Region, a key stronghold for the NDC.
Often known as the party’s ‘world bank’, the region has recently shown signs of shifting support towards the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Accordingly, the NPP is optimistic about its chances based on its progress in the region over the last four years.
In the 2016 elections, the NPP received 10.81% of the votes, which slightly increased to 14.14% in 2020. Despite this trend, Agbleze firmly stated that the NDC will not abandon the region and will continue working diligently to maintain its strong position leading up to the elections.
“We are dedicated to preserving our historical stronghold and ensuring that the Volta Region remains steadfast in its support for the NDC.” We call on the public to see past the NPP’s empty promises and to support us in rejecting the propaganda they are spreading.
Agbleze advised the NPP to focus on rebuilding the country’s economy instead of creating unrealistic expectations. He emphasized that the NPP should address the significant harm they have caused to both the economy and the lives of ordinary Ghanaians, rather than pursuing unscientific goals.
This harm has caused widespread suffering and frustration among families and communities nationwide. By tackling the real challenges faced by Ghanaians, rather than going after unattainable objectives, the NPP can show a genuine commitment to improving the country’s economic situation and restoring hope among its citizens.
Agbleze also pointed out that the NPP’s habit of making unrealistic projections only highlights the gap between their words and the actual situation on the ground. He stated that this deception initially helped the NPP gain power, but it is now hurting their credibility nationwide.
The disparity between the NPP’s claims and the realities faced by Ghanaians is becoming more evident, leading to increased frustration among voters. Additionally, the NDC communicator highlighted that the NPP’s goals are unachievable, as they have consistently failed to meet their objectives in the past.
This track record of unfulfilled promises casts doubt on the NPP’s ability to deliver on future commitments, suggesting that their projections are not based in reality. Agbleze also mentioned that there are broader concerns among Ghanaians about the NPP’s governance and its impact on the lives of ordinary citizens.
He stated, “For the NPP to think they could win nearly half of the votes in the Volta Region is not just absurd, but also insulting to the intelligence of Voltarians.” The NPP has continuously set unrealistic targets in this region for many years, only to fail each time.
Agbleze called on residents to support the NDC in the upcoming election, highlighting the party’s ability to restore the region’s fortunes and impact Ghana positively.
He emphasized the importance of this election for the region’s future, urging voters to see the NDC’s dedication to addressing their needs. Agbleze stressed the NDC’s history of working in the Volta Region’s best interests. With 1,023,147 registered voters in the region, there is a significant opportunity for collective action. He urged voters to participate in large numbers to elect representatives who will prioritize their concerns.
