Samira Bawumia, who is the Founder and Chair of the Africa Women and Children Conference (AFRIWOCC) as well as a worldwide advocate for sustainable energy and climate action, will inaugurate the 2025 SEforALL Global Forum in Barbados.
This forum is set to be a pivotal gathering focused on fostering investments, policies, and collaborations to fulfill Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG7)—which aims to guarantee universal access to affordable, dependable, and sustainable energy by the year 2030.
The theme for this year, “Sustainable Energy for Equity, Security, and Prosperity,” underscores the essential need to enhance energy availability, achieve climate objectives, and promote sustainable progress, especially for those in vulnerable situations.
Mrs. Bawumia is anticipated to emphasize the vital importance of clean cooking technologies in the transition towards cleaner energy worldwide.
Moreover, the former second lady is likely to advocate for the combination of mini-grids with clean cooking projects, reducing dependence on conventional fuels, and making sure that energy strategies focus on health, gender equality, and environmental sustainability.
Samira Bawumia, the former second lady, has tirelessly championed initiatives for clean energy. In 2019, she was recognized as the first of seven honorees at the esteemed Seven for 7 Awards presented by SEforALL and Ashden, a charity based in London, for her significant contributions to enhancing energy access.
She also holds the role of Global Ambassador for the Clean Cooking Alliance and serves as a Global Champion for the Clean Air Fund and the World Health Organization (WHO)’s Health and Energy Platform for Action, alongside various other initiatives dedicated to improving the lives of women and children.
