30 individuals injured as a result of rock blasting conducted at Buduburam

A devastating event occurred on the Buduburam segment of the Accra-Winneba highway as a result of a rock explosion carried out by a construction firm working on the road, resulting in significant damage.

Three individuals have lost their lives, and more than 30 individuals have sustained injuries of various severities in the aftermath. Reports from Citi News indicate that the rock explosion, which lasted only a few minutes, occurred after several vehicles on the road were halted to allow the operation to proceed.

Residents of the area have mentioned that this is not the first instance of rocks being detonated in the Buduburam area of the highway. They have noted that such blasts often lead to damage to the roofs of houses in the Big Apple vicinity during construction operations.

Following the incident, some enraged residents in the area reportedly attacked workers of the construction company involved. It has been reported that a Chinese individual, who is in charge of the construction team, has been apprehended.

The individuals who were harmed have been promptly taken to St. Gregory Hospital in Buduburam. The administrator at St. Gregory Hospital, located in Buduram, has been accurately documented by Mattias Ayegre-Anaba as the official records of the facility. A total of 42 individuals were transported to this location.

At this moment, four individuals are being referred for medical care – two have been transported to 37 Military Hospital, while we await an ambulance to transfer the other two to Winneba. All four patients currently admitted are stable. We currently have a total of 18 female individuals, nine male individuals, and two other individuals in our recovery program. Three individuals have been successfully treated and have since been released from medical care. Regrettably, three individuals were lost.
